I drew inspiration from a garden concept art piece from Studio Ghibli's "Porco Rosso" animated film to create a stylized environment. My primary objective for this project was to faithfully recreate the original artwork to the best of my ability. This project presented a lot of challenges, including extensive practice with stylized material and handling stylized foliage.
Working on stylized foliage elements was a fascinating aspect of this project. I focused on ensuring that these foliage seamlessly blended into the environment, avoiding the mesh of making them appear overly fake and thereby keeping the players immersed in the atmosphere.
Among the challenges I faced, making the texture of the trunk proved to be the most challenging. This tree trunk was distinct from the conventional stylized tree designs, boasting a lot of intricate details that harmoniously melded with the overall composition. This project was a fantastic learning experience for me, and I hope you enjoy it.
